Picked this up yesterday for £650 including 6 months tax, Brava 1.6SX, drives really nicely, comfy and feels pretty solid. The stereo and controls feel well designed, I'm a big fan of the gear knob. Its a big step up from the Matiz, it picks up speed effortlessly and has a lot of torque in 1st, which has been a problem getting going on a hill as I'm used to having to put my foot to the floor to stop rolling backwards.

The guy I bought it off seems pretty genuine, he sells cars from what is basically a large shed on a farm. The previous owner had it for 7 years and has taken good care of it, loads of service history and everything works.

Any thoughts? I just felt like making a thread about it :)

Congrats on your new purchase, certainly a good step in power coming from a Matiz (just over double the power and torque if you had the 800cc one!).

Does it have a sunroof? If so watch out for water leaks inside the car, they are notorious for this.

I drove one of these years back as a hire car, and thought it was ok. Worst thing on it were the headlights, they were almost as bad as my current Fiat's and that's saying something.

For £650 ya can't go wrong really!

Not a fan of the car's look at all though, especially those rear lights :p

What size engine was the matiz?

They have the most awful interiors and are horrible to drive.

The interiors certainly aren't very inspiring (pretty crap to be honest), but they aren't bad to drive. It uses the Tipo floorpan and running gear (very simmilar to my Coupe) and the handling was one of the most positive aspects of the reviews at the time.

My first experience of a Brava was a hire car. I wanted to open the bonnet to top up the windscreen wash resevoir, and the bonnet release handle snapped clean in two! The pont of this....go easy on the interior!

Yeah the Matiz is 800cc so this is much faster :) The interior is lovely, can't fault it apart from the indicator cancels a bit early sometimes. I'm very happy with it :D

Was always told on Fiats to check the hinges of the bonnets before anything else as they are the ones that are used the most and wear out before the ones on the doors.:D

good buy for the money , you will have little trouble with it just don't loose the master key if you have it ,as it cost a fortune to replace my next door neighbour always buys cars £300-£700 and me like a mug buy more expensive ones and he still gets from a-b without the cost , i think i will hold on to my car for a few more years.happy motoring:)

This is only my second car so I didn't want to spend too much, I think this will last me a while though :) It came with the red key, 2 non-red keys and the CODE card, although the emergency start procedure isn't printed on the card as the manual states. The red key as I understand it is for if anything electrical goes wrong right?

The red key is for programming the new (coded) keys into the ECU. Not a big deal if you didn't have it, you can get existing keys cloned very easily. However it does make selling the car easier as some people seem to be terrified at the thought of not having one.
