New flat!

yer_averagejoe - crazy! The world is far to small a place! I've got 5 mates that live in the same block.

Mail, as far as I can remember, is done via the main door. There's only 3 neighbours with the same "front" door as me (who I'm told all own their flats as well) so I'm planning on getting to know them. Hopefully won't be a problem!

rG-tom - I saved the money with a bit of hard graft and money from my parents. I actually lived with my parents with a full time, professional, job for a while. This was with the exact intention of saving money for my first place.

I realise I've been more than lucky with this find and the time to buy. I also know that I'm very fortunate with my parents background and a comfortable job at my age. In my search I was hearing horror stories of people paying 10 to 20% over the asking price but luckily that wasn't the case for me!

Hope everyone else's house hunting goes as well! Like I said, I'll probably have a post regarding doing up the cinema room so no doubt be asking for tips over at Home Cinema & Hi-Fi :D

Thanks for the reply :) Out of interest, how is that going to work having a home cinema room in a flat? Surely it'll **** off the neighbours if you properly take advantage of it?

I was thinking that will be thing's I'll have to take into consideration in the WIP thread. The cinema room will be above my bedroom so obviously downwards noise isn't a problem (and if I do go to bed can just turn the sub off).

But yeah, outward noise towards the other flats I'll have to consider. To be honest I'm not an overly noises listener anyway. I sometimes go around to my mates to watch films and find it annoying how loud they turn it up. I'm not planning on spending a future so that I "have to use it to it's full potential!"

I'm also planning on calling in on my neighbours and seeing what the sound transmission is like and what rooms in their house that it will be sharing a wall with.

Fingers crossed I come across as the "friendly neighbour" that's just very courteous rather than "that **** next door that keeps knocking on our door when we're having tea!" :D

Thats what you would hope for in a neighbour? id hope for a 19 year old aussie stunner who liked to open the door in a towel and sometimes needed a hand paying her rent :D
 
Looks really good, well done on your purchase. For a flat I would say that type of building is a step above a converted terrace or trendy new build.
