New Gaming PC Spec

I'm running 1920 x 1080 resolution.

Yeah Ive always wanted to have a play at the eyefinity but i need a 3d monitor right ? So this will probably have to wait.

So its better to spend the extra on the Gfx card rather than the CPU and MOBO in a gaming rig ?

Cheers.

ah just done my research on Eyefinity. Its the multi screen thing :P. This looks very interesting.

I think I'm gonna go with the GTX680's. I keep seeing posts about driver issues with the AMD. especially with crossfire.

Yes it is, most games rely more on the GPU than the CPU

If you're sticking with one 1080p a single 7970 will happily run it! GTX680s are also good, but tend to be more expensive.

How would you rate this setup for the money ?

Btw I work full time and live with parents so making the most of it :P

I really want to go with the GTX 680's as i dont want problems with the AMD drivers in crossfire.

For an extra £20 the ripjaw ram seems better 1866 Mhz opposed to 1600 Mhz.

I want to try and get 4.8 Ghz out of the processor so thats why I have water-cooling. I have gone with the 360 as i will want to water cool the cards later. Also I think its looks good :P

I'm really interested in the Nvidia Surround technology. I believe upcomming games will use this so its not a waste?

I wasn't that interested in nvidia 3d vision but the Benq XL2420T monitors seem the best value for money as I want 120hz. It doesn't make since to save £100 on a monitor and loose and inch and the 3dvision 2.0.

Let me know your thoughts.. I will be able to buy it Friday (payday woo)

The 680s in SLI won't be perfect either - but go with whichever you prefer.

Yeah KFA2 is a good choice, and a bit cheaper too.

Go for a 2600K if you want to overclock. Or even just a 2500K as most games don't use hyperthreading and you can get a good OC out of it:

You don't need water cooling for 4.8ghz but not a bad idea if you're gunna watercool the GPUs too -I don't know much about these water cooling kits to be honest, so maybe best to ask in that section to check it's a good choice.

If i was buying 16GB of RAM, I'd get these 2x8GB sticks on offer [leaving you two slots free for later]

Good point. This system is going to be a gaming PC so if there is no need for an I7 then I will go for the i5. It makes sense.

Remember I will be using Xsplit Broadcaster to stream games. Will the i5 CPU be able to handle this ? Looking at the reviews the i7 Is only slightly better.

Ok I'm not going for the water-blocks yet for the Gfx cards as there will be no need to OC them. So I think its wise to hold off for now and introduce it later.

Is the drop from 1866Mhz to 1600Mhz noticeable ? im not too sure on memory tbh.

If not thats a good point on the extra two slots.

updated Build. (saved quite a bit)

You won't notice the difference between 1600Mhz and 1866.

Not sure what the stream games thing is, if it requires more CPU power and can use multiple threads an i7 might be a better bet!

Ok cheers. I will find out if it eve supports multi threading :P

What do you think of the MOBO ? Its seems to have nice features and 6x sata 6 Ports which i find handy.

It is very nice - I assume you chose it partly for looks?
As something like this is likely to have all the features you'd need:
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-389-GI&groupid=701&catid=5&subcat=2261

That one you listed only has 2x 6Gb/s Sata ports.

I'm sticking my two SSD's in raid 0 so that would leave me no space for another 6GB HDD

I really like the Applications the Asus comes with. They look really neat :P

However i have found that if im running the two GTX 680's the PCIe 16x Lanes drop to 8x

Is this a massive hindrance ?

The 3 monitors came today but the components didn't :(

The consignment says Awaiting receipt of parcel.

Guess it will turn up tomorrow.
