I know this might be a stupid question, but can you overclock on a micro ATX build?

Yeah as long as it is one of the chipsets that allow overclocking like the Z77 and you have a 'K' series processor.

Not seen anything else mentioned apart from whats in this thread and the new AMD boards due to coincide with AMD Trinity.

Seen that but unfortunately I need to be able to utilise a GTX680, soundcard, and a WIFI card in there without the GTX680 running at 8x as that board will do AFAIK once the lanes are populated.

PCI-E3 at x8 is plenty fast enough for a 680, thats if it does revert to x8 anyway, im guessing you could probably force x16 in bios if you so wished.

Didn't know that, especially being able to possibly force the x16, will it have a detrimental effect on the system/motherboard?

I was thinking the same thing. Another m-ITX board spoiled by poor socket placement.
