I got my new headphones today. I have dolby headphone enable along with pcm at 192 khz not sure if i should leaves this on or turn it off with dolby headphones. I decided to try out bioshock so i configured the speakers on the sound options as 7.1 and set the surround to 7.1 in the bioshock audio settings. It just seems as though sound is all over the place the position audio does not seem right. When i had my 5.1 setup if their was talking to the left of me i would hear it out of the left speak and the same for other noises.

BioShock is a bit of a tricky one to setup for surround audio - try quad speaker config in windows and ingame and enable dolby headphone...

Oddly enough I've trying to do the same thing - having got DR150s and a Xonar D1 for Christmas :)

Shouldn't Bioshock be set to output 5.1? as that is what the processing in Dolby Headphone supports?

BioShock has problems with the rear channels and sounds will dissapear entirely as you pan the viewpoint or play from the wrong speaker unless you get it setup correctly... its awhile since I did it but I seem to remember you have to set it for quad speakers not 5.1+.

If i set it to quad i guess i only get it out of the 2 speakers only? and no surround? I tried it on quad and theirs a lot missing sounds, i have not config the speakers to quad though. Do i have to config it to quad with a pair of stereo headphones or set it to stereo? And if i have dolby heaphone on and 8 channel will that emulate 7.1?
