New Gov

I think we're far better managed than under Labour, and compared to other countries. The USA and Japan would be near the bottom of the list of countries I'd consider taking advice from.

Probably Singapore. Nice and clean. Death penalty retained with efficient and non-corrupt judiciary. Very high standards of education and even higher standard of living. They're doing something right.

Maybe the Chinese government, or maybe the Germans - the European success.
After all, China is the big success story, but then again that might be nothing to do with its government and more simply because of its fortunate endowment of people, resources, and demand for their services. But they seem to be doing OK. So either the Chinese or the Germans can come and run the UK for 4 years.

However, I wonder whether the government actually has much to with the state of the country at all (in a country such as ours where food shortages, civil war etc are a thing of the past (atm. ())). I see it as the inhabitants fault that the country is the way it is, and a change of government won't do much.

I wouldn't choose any government, because I think there is probably a better way to run things than the West's contemporary systems of democracy. We just have to find it, that's the big problem.

Please expand.

I can only go by what people who I know, who have worked over there, tell me about the working conditions are like for normal people, and IMO that makes it a **** place to live and work.

That's ok if you think there's no problem.
[..]

That would only be true if there were other countries that didn't have any problems. Which isn't true. It isn't a case of thinking there aren't any problems. It's a case of thinking that a government from another country wouldn't do any better at fixing those problems. Not just because they haven't fixed all the problems in their own country, but because we have some different problems here.
