Hi chaps. Firstly apologies as there seems a lot of threads on nearly the same thing but what is right for one, may not be right for me!

I fried my last GPU the other day. It is an ATI X2900XT. So I need a new one.

I currently have an old ATI 1600Xt in my machine but I cannot game.

My rig -

Corsair TX750W PSU
MSI P31 Neo V2 mobo
Intel Core 2 Duo Processor 2.40 GHz, 1066 MHz FSB, 4 MB L2 Cache
2 x 1GB Corsair DDR2 RAM
Creative Audigy 4 sound card

MS XP
Antec 300 gaming case
2 x Seagate HD's.

I play BF2 & L4D2 mainly. I am planning on a bit of an upgrade in March if BC2 looks any good and hope this will last till BF3.

Now I have no idea what card to get. Was looking at ATI 5770 but peeps have been having problems. I am also aware it is at the lower end for these DX11 cards and I may need to upgrade it again soon. Plus my current rig may bottleneck anything too good as well.

I was budgeting around £100.00 (was hoping for less tbh) but can stretch a little higher if needed. In all honesty, my 2900Xt was absolutely fine for what I was using it for so something similar will suffice, unless it is genuinely worth me forking out a bit more at this time. My financial position will be better in March as well as I was made redundant just before xmas. :(

Your thoughts would be most appreciated as this is doing my nut in! :)

5770 if you can afford it (110£ or so)

A used 4870 goes for 60£ or so and delivers roughly the same performance as a 5770 but lacks DX11

Well I am going to take the plunge and order a 5770.

With some other bits it shoud run BC2 when it comes out ok and I am not planning on playing at a bigger res than 1280 x 1024 anytime soon .

Hope my rig does not bottleneck I don't think it should.

Might try and up my ram as I have 2 x 1gb fitted and do have another matched pair but could never get them to work. Might be asking on here soon.

Thanks all :D

5770 is a great choice DX11 card on the budget.
It will play everything you throw at it since you're gaming on low resolution. :)

overclock your processor too mate, do it right now after reading this :D, even on stock coolers you can reach 2.8 - 3, and that will make a big BIG difference too, along with the card. oh, and while you're at it, i dont have too much info about this, but when you have the 5770 and if it causes problems, just oc the pci-x bus to 101mhz from 100. that fixed most peoples problems
