HI there

Check out the NVIDIA 7900/7950 section at 2pm, if you can't see it press refresh.

We have two new cards:-

7900 GS

This is essentially a faster clocked 7800 GT. So performance wise it fits in between the 7800 GT and 7900 GT which is position to compete against ATI X1900 GT. We have a wide selection of models available with 256MB, 512MB and overclocked versions with more coming soon. Prices start at just £109.99+VAT which is amazing when you consider these are quicker than 7800 GT's and not much slower than the 7900 GT. Also with any luck these won't have any of the reliability issues as its a new core, new cooler and different memory. :)

7950 GT

This card basically replaces the 7900 GT. It features a newer core, different memory and comes clocked at higher speeds. Plus it now features 512MB as standard with 256MB versions available. Again price is very good and hopefully there is now no reliability issues. NVIDIA positioning this card to compete against the ATI X1900 XT !!

The 7900 GS seems like a sure winner, cracking performance at a very low price point, wheras the 7950 GT is essentially a clock bumped 7900 GT and one that hopefully has no issues. Also worth mentioning is the Leadtek cards have HDCP enabled DVI ports as STD. :)

Would it be worth getting a 7900GS and selling my 2 7600GTs?

Thats a hard one!

In benchmarks the 7600 probably score better in SLi.
However in games at high resolution then probably one 7900 GS is quicker!

Have you had chance to compare the 7900GS against a X1900GT?

I have heard that some of the X1900GT can be unlocked especially the Sapphire variants?

If the X1900GT which is essentially a locked X1900XT all be with slower memory could be unlocked then that would be an amazing card for the money.

I have one on order because I feel the need to have a play.

Well our Sapphire X1900 GT's just shipped from the port in Hong Kong. These are the new HDCP enabled versions, aint got a clue about them unlocking but they should arrive with us early next week. :)

ETA on the 7950GTs?

Any orders placed will ship on September 13th for delivery the day after. As we now have stock of both X1950 XTX and 7950 GT in actual stock but are not permitted to ship until the 13th of this month. :)

So is it correct in saying the 7900GS is basically the replacement for the 7800GTX which is now discontinued, saying as it fits between the 7800GT and 7900GT which is where I would have placed the 7800GTX.

So 7800GTX = 7900GS ?

:)

I can't remember exactly where I read it (Anandtech, maybe) but the X1900 > 7900GS if I remember correctly. Not by much, but enough of a difference.

I think this is one of those situations when price will dictate the purchase.

Really don't think you can go wrong with either of the new medium range Nvidia/ATi cards now. After years of charging through the nose I think both company's are producing some amazing performance for reasonably money.

Hi there

Certainly are, prices seem to have generally come down. I mean come on an X1900 XT 512MB or a 7950 GT 512MB, too top class cards and not much over £200. :)

Or for £150 you can have very similar performance with say an X1900 XT 256MB or overclocked 7900 GS 512MB. :)

so, does 2 x 7950 GT OC = faster than 2 x 7900 GT EVGA signature cards?

As for the 7950GT, it looks like the memory has doubled and the inclusion of the G71 GPU but does it mean it'll be faster than the sig cards?

The performance will be too close to seperate them. For the price the 7950 win it hands down. The signature cards are very overpriced, they are more of a willy waving product........
