I've connected a new 1TB Hard Drive via sata to my GA-EX58-UD3R motherboard in port 5 (ports 1 and 3 being used for raid) but it's not showing up in my computer.

Is shows on the boot screen though.

Any ideas?

Depending on your version of windows:

Control panel > administration > disk manager (should be fairly easy to find) > find the disk, r click the probably greyed out bar that represents your new drive and format it to your filesystem of choice (NTFS if this is windows only). Once this is done windows might automatically assign it a letter but if not, r click it again and do that.

Thanks a lot guys :)

found and working :)

Say i was to copy information (movies and music mainly) onto this disc and then transfer it to another machine running windows xp ( currently on a windows 7 pc) would it work and see all the movies and music etc?

once its been formatted to ntfs it will show up, some occasions you have to replace ownership of the drive to the other o/s you use, i have had this a couple of times, but i think it only happens if you have an o/s on the actual drive you are transferring over
