I got the LG 26LX2R, just now I'm using the component cables but I want to try the VGA cable. It doesnt go straight in but theres a VGA to DVI cable that came with the TV that I'm using. When I turn it on, the picture is brilliant, then after a second or two it just goes so dark, you can barely read the text. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Have you run the PC setup? as that port is how you would connect a PC to it so i would have thought there would be an automatic setup for it in one of the menus..

It sounds like the screen is going into a standby as well, so have a good scower of the menu items.

GordyR might have a better idea as he owns one.

Try turning up the brightness, contrast settings within the tv menu or as gord said run the tv setup at the start.
Although with the component it is dark, even on my 32" Sammy LCD tv its kinda dark but ive turned the brightness up a bit which seems to have made it slightly better.

Also have a look within the tv settings to see if you have certain colour modes ie like cool, warm etc etc.

I have fiddled about with it for hours doing all the suggestions you two have mentioned but to no avail. Its very annoying becuase a clear picture comes up, then it just goes dark after a couple of seconds, I dont understand it! When I select the auto config. option the picture goes perfect, then after 2 seconds it changes back to being too dark.

Are you on xbox live? I used to have a similar problem with the VGA connection but when I downloaded the latest update it seems to have fixed it.

It's not the 360 screen saver is it?

lol i'd seriously doubt anyone with any issue over the brightness of their picture would be fooled by the screen saver  :D

anyway...as ppl said...just play around with the settings...thats the easiest way.

MY Pioneer has a sort of screen saver when connected to my PC it's to stop screen burn/retention but that only come on after a 3-5 minutes of inactivity.

Have looked to see if there is an option for it's length or if your screen has an option like this?

Or I think your screen is thinking that your are running a PC through the VGA connection so it is turning the screen saver on.
