Well I'm finally looking into getting a HDTV, luckily I have a few months money to put towards it. I'm looking at buying a TV around January/February time next year.

Budget for this is around £1500 on the TV itself, and what I'm looking to connect it to would mainly be. SKY HD, Xbox 360, PS3 (when it's out) and other bits and pieces. I have about a 60" gap in my room to fill, but I going for quality not size so not necessarily looking for a massive screen.

I'm starting to think I need a sticky. This question has come up a lot in recent weeks.

The answer is, Sony Bravia W or X models. If you dont have the money and don't mind being capped at 720p, then get a Sony Bravia V model.

These are currently the best TVs on the market.

Single HDMI though. I liked the samsung N series better and its has better connection options and it the same panel.

both W and X series both have Twin HDMI

its only the much lower priced V and S series that dont. and even then not for much longer

How much stuff do you have that uses HDMI?

If you get more than one thing then you are probably investing in this sort of technology and probably want a fairly good bit of kit. In that case a decent 5.1 (or better yet 7.1) receiver/amp that is HD compatible will sort you out.

IMO you only really need one input of each sort on a TV and the right receiver/amp

My apologies I was thinking 32 inch I dont think I have seen a W or X 32 inch? So I was looking at the V but was dissapointed with the one hdmi.

Looking at the new 1080p sets, but they're around £1200 (37") 32" 730 sets are now being discounted, ie a good make around £600. Decisions. Is it worth paying the extra for a 1080p set? I did have a 32" 730 set but for Windows I would really like a slightly higher resolution.

TBH will you really notice the difference accross the room on anything below 40". IMO no. Infact I would say 1080p is only essential at 60+". Everything below that is more or less bragging rights.

Right now not a lot in the future who knows but i'm sure atleast two. :p

You probably will, but surely you will also invest in a decent amp that can process the new Hi Def sound formats. And allow for HDMI switching. I mean its not like many of the early adoptors will want the sound being sent to the TV.
