I've been given permission for a new build. It will have to last 5 years, with minimal upgrades, ram, HDD and GPU. Have £500 budget. Less is better, not a penny more or the other half will literally kill me. I'm hoping she's joking but why take the risk

Not needed:
Ram - OCZ Platinum 4GB
Hard Drive - 2TB Samsung
Optical Drive - LG Bulray Writer
Monitor
Keyboard/Mouse - Logitech

These will be coming from my current PC
CPU Cooler - Antec 620
OS - Windows 7 64bit
GPU - XFX 6950 2GB

Looking at the 2600k for video editing and maybe some gaming.

Things needed:
CPU
Motherboard
PSU
Case
Something i may have missed?

Thank you.

EDIT

Current System:
Antec Basic 430w
Athlon X4 630
MSI E51 Motherboard
4gb Ram
500gb Samsung HD
LG DVD-Writer
Cooler Master Elite 430
XFX 6950 2gb
Antec Kuhler 620

eMachine ER1401 for browsing/basic work.

Are you in a rush to make this build at all?

Yes and no. I want to build as soon as possible or i'll be waiting forever.

Yes, 1.50 - 1.60v.

Also have a CPU cooler.

TBH, i am big fan of Antec and their cooling products. With this in mind everything should have very good cooling options upgrade options.

EDIT: Reading Ivy Bridge Preview....

Well like RJC mentioned the Ivy Bridge is scheduled for release at the end of this month which will hopefully let us see a bit of a price drop in the SB processors which could save you some cash :)

I dont think SB will likely drop in prices but become harder to find as suppliers get rid of stock.

Example, you cant find any 6 core AMD(Thuban) CPU's on places like OcUK or the I7 920. The stock seems to vanish but drops in prices never happened.

Looking at IvyBridge, nice! If the 3770k is priced around £270 i'll get that.

IB prices are rumoured the same as SB if SB doesn't drop its insanity. plus the z77 boards are lga1155 and intel can expect to still be making money off of SB.

If that's the case, then i think IB CPU's would be 10 to 20% more expensive than SB CPU's. But they never sell older gen, when new kit comes out.

Either way i need a spec. Everything i need above bar the CPU.

Ive changed the case and the PSU, and removed the cooler.

I think i need a SSD, for the OS and core programs. But i dont know how i can fit it into the budget without sacrificing other components.
