I'm looking to get the GSXR out a lot more this year and would like to replace my aging leathers with something synthetic. I'm looking for trousers and jacket which I can wear for days out and commuting to work.

Not looking to spend a small fortune on these so lower end of the market suggestions would be great :)

Go for a combo of leather and synth - the IXS range and Hein Geriche and RST seem pretty damm good for the money.
I went for Frank Thomas gear - mines medium range gear but I wouldnt reccomend it if you want kit that will potentially last two years plus.

Depends on how low 'lower end' is but I can advise against RST as both my jacket and trousers have had issues of poor stitching and velcro not gripping after a years use.

Wolf are the higher end of RST but still affordable, might be worth looking into some of last years stock from premium suppliers like Alpinestars, Dainese or Furygan which will be in the bargain bin due to new summer stock arriving soon.

it won't be heavy use riding, which I should have stated. When I say commuting to work I mean once a week or so. I go on site quite a lot so need my car most days.

I'll have a look at the combo gear now :)

I can highly recommend triumphs own gear its great. I own I yammy and its the only gear I would buy now. I have owned. It for a year and it looks like new non of the stitching has gone or any faults what so ever and I have worn it out in all weather.

At this point your thinking this guy is crazy recommending gear saying that it lasts and his gear is only a year old.

But wait a min. I use my gear eveyday as I commute and it is my main mode of transport. Last year alone I clocked up 32,000 miles on my bike and this gear. Some times I think gear should be tested on how many miles it last rather than age as the average rider supposedly only dose 4,000 miles a year. Therefore this gear has maybe had 8 years of use. I know my dec 2009 bike looks like its had 8years off use... :( hey but its been fun

I think Triumphs vintage looking stuff is their own but the sports range is re branded Alpinestar stuff.

As Kipper I like some of the new IXUS textile stuff, thought I personally still only recommend properly fitted leather :p

I wear leather on the bottom and textile on the top, and you can have another vote for Wolf from me!

I've got all sorts of kit kicking around from when I used to ride every single day and the stuff I wear most often by far is the leather Wolf bottoms and textile Wolf jacket.

I think they were £200 and £150 respectively, I've had them a few years now and I love them to bits, comfy and no issues with wear.

Im thinking to get a Wolf textile jacket to wear with the leather trousers, not liking textile trousers just now, dont feel 'right' after wearing proper fitted leathers. Any reccomendations for wolf textile jackets e.g. model/cost?

I had a look on Harpers, where i bought mine (their shop is just down the road but they have a website), and they don't have either of my items still going, I've had them a few years. The equivalent-looking ones seem to be about £200 a piece. I can't remember if my jacket was on sale but I paid about £140 I think.

For what they cost I really like both of them, I like the style of them a lot. They're not crap like cheap stuff, and they don't cost anywhere near as much as Dainese and similar but I'd call them very good quality.

All the Wolf stuff seems to fit together so mix and match what you like (I think! Give Harpers a ring, they're really good in there and they actually *are* Wolf. The high end stuff is made in the shop, the normal stuff is made in China I think).

I don't really like textile bottoms, they're either so long that they crumple up when I stand up and feel uncomfortable, or if they fit me when I'm standing up they ride up when I'm on the bike. I'm sure higher end textile stuff is nice but I just prefer leather for trousers, once my Wolf bottoms were worn in they got so comfy it's ridiculous.

I'm the opposite with jackets though for some reason, I don't find leather jackets very comfy compared to nice textiles.

Ah harpers, I bought my Nimbus two piece from them at the Excel show last month, 360 notes, 100 quid off, bit of a win. The chap who actually makes the gear sold me the stuff :D
Ill defo have a butchers at the jackets, they do look really good.

You see quite a lot of Wolf stuff around these parts (South East Essex), I think it's because Harpers are quite well thought of round here and they sell loads of it, because obviously it's their brand. I just like it, it's good stuff at a good price :)

I didn't know it was them until a mate told me who worked there for ages, I think the guy that owns Harpers is the guy behind Wolf as well, I'm 99% sure it's not just a collaboration.

As anyone ever had Held Textile clothing? A local shop seems to stock their full range. The decent stuff was £369 for the Gortex jacket and £299 for the trousers. Fully padded etc.

Bit more than I wanted to pay but looks like good kit.
