New Kitchen Build log (likely to have lots of pics)

Not to my taste, but I do like it and HUGE improvement. Is that one of the hobs were you can touch it but won't burn your hand?...or atleast able to put a peice of paper on it and it won't catch fire?....

Thank's

yes the hob is an Induction hob. the glass under the pan does get hot and you could burn yourself as it gets to about 75 degrees but cools down VERY quickly.

unlike a ceramic hob that would take your skin off and blister instantly you would have to hold your hand on the glass to get a burn.

It is taking a little getting used to, however on boost it will boil a pan (1l) in less than 90 seconds and the wok is up to stir-fry temperature in about 10 seconds!

it does cool down quickly but isn't as instant as gas.

had to change 90% of my pans as they have to have a magnetic bottom so i would have only had a frying pan and a stock pot that would have worked!

Nice job. Well done:D Just one little problem though .... who's the blonde lying down on the settee in the last picture and why is she there and not standing next to the kettle making you a brew after all the graft you've done ;)

Al ;)

That blond would be my wife,

she is laid on the sofa because she is exhausted after all the nagging she has been doing trying to keep me motivated to finishing the kitchen.

her contribution was a little wallpaper stripping and sweeping up, she especialy liked to sweep up just as i was making more mess on the floor

Just from quick glancling, is the Hob sort of floating above the work top? or is it flush/sealed? if its just floating u'd want to seal it in with something to stop splashes going down there.

that was whilst i was oiling the work surface, it is sat in the work surface now. the glass is raised above but it is sealed round the outside so no nastys can crawl in and fester

Impressive. Routing those drainage grooves must have been a nerve-wracking moment!

Did you tile up to the wall units or tile behind and screw into the tiles?

tiled up to the units so they rest on the work surface, keeps the nasties from getting down the back.

if the grooves went wrong i could have always turned the work surface over and try again!
