Hi

Just wondered if anyone can recommend a good laptop spec, good enough for:

a) Watching 1080p TS files
b) Image & video editing
c) Software development (ie running local DBs, webservers etc for testing)
d) Running Vista
e) Good battery life
f) Optical drive
g) Running games with reasonable detail for things like Warcraft (I'm not expecting the latest wizzy games to work)
h) Widescreen, with high-end resolution for a laptop.
i) Really a laptop (ie light enough to carry around airports)

Thanks!

Marcos

Something your gunna have to choose really. Work out something thats approved for Vista first. Then work on that.

i would wait for the new nvidia and ati cards to come out for laptop

an intel core duo 1.66 should be enough to watch 1080p ts if its mpeg2

for h.264 1080p your need a good graphics and maybe a faster processor

get a high spec tower unit, some hinges, metal plates , bolts, 26" inch HDTV and a bracket for it. put them all together ...

....and hay presto you have exactly what youre asking for - in the only way possible to get it....

Ok, enough of the sarcasm :)

I have plumped for a 2.33GHz Macbook Pro - I like the idea of being able to run both operating system, and with BootCamp 1.1.2, even the internal microphone and webcam work in windows, as does using the track pad for right clicking (by keeping one finger on, while you tap with another)

Will report back on which of the above requirements it fails on.

Obviously a resolution of 1440x900 immediately precludes 1080i/p, but only by 180 pixels. I can live with that...
