    Hi folks,

Very odd one here - I have just set up a new laptop (Dell Precision with i5, 16GB ram etc so not poor spec) and have noticed the internet is painfully slow.

I have run a speed test on my old laptop and this one 1 after the other:
Old laptop: Ping: 101mbps Download speed: 210mbps, upload speed: 24mbps
New laptop: Ping: 101mbps Download speed: 1.45mbps, upload speed: 24mbps

Both have the same wifi setup etc. Any ideas on what is limiting the download speed?

Sounds obvious, but as it’s a new laptop, did you check things like background updates weren’t downloading or your Sky box wasn’t grabbing some on demand content etc? Also what about the speedtest.net server, was that the same?

Seen this before with virus / malware scanners and all that extra garbage that tends to come loaded on new builds.
