My sister and I would like to get my parents a new laptop for basic tasks - we’ve come up with a £300 budget but with so many options available, and a lack of knowledge of that end of the market I’m not sure what to go for - any recommendations?

If they/you are OK with a used laptop then you could get something like a Thinkpad T series. You would get a far better laptop this way than a budget new one.

This. I bought a Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon 2nd gen for £160 the other week, fantastic laptop - 4th gen i5, 8GB RAM, 128GB SSD and it's got a WQHD Touch screen and 3G/4G modem built in.

Will be a lot better than most new laptops at that price point I reckon.

Was this an eBay deal?

Looking for something similar myself
