Well if they did do it those firemen were definitely not actually there. Sadly the resolution isn't good enough for me to tell either way.

It's a very generic scene to set up CG wise though, and the interior/exterior cutting is very simple and doesn't let on that it could be real or fake. The clue would be in the wording at the end but alas I'm not German and I'm lazy, sorry Google.

IMO, if they actually did this it would have been a big PR event and we'd have known about it before it was made into an advert. I don't doubt it is possible though.

If top gear can do it with a citroen c1 / toyota aygo, i dont see why all the financial clout of mercedes benz couldnt be put together to do that for real.

thats my thinking, top gear did it with a twingo in that tunnel as well
