Hai,

Since my old Samsung Syncmaster 206BW died the other day, im looking for a replacement :). I've heard something about 3D 120hz monitors etc but i dont know what to pick at the moment.

My budget is around 300 pounds or 350 euros.

Important:

* 2ms
* max 24 inch
* prefer brands like Asus, BenQ etc..

Things i use it for:

* Counterstrike Source
* Call of Duty series
* Sony Vegas / Photoshop etc
* Movies

I've read about the BenQ XL2410T monitor. But is more like a marketingtrick or is it really good? And do u have to wear some nerdy 3d glasses?

Spec me please :)

Depending on how much you do image and video editing you do - I would suggest the Dell U2311H. This monitor uses a high quality E-IPS panel that is a fair it better in terms of image qaulity and viewing angles compared to the huge number of TN panel monitors on the market. Here is an in-depth review.

Thanks for your advice!

So you would recommend this over the BenQ monitor?
Wouldn't it be better to pick a LED monitor instead of LCD? And do you need glasses for that BenQ monitor?

The marketers who cause all this confusion that 'LED' is somehow distinctive from LCD deserve to be shot.

In order of image quality:

- U2311H
- XL2370
- XL2410T
- V2420H

In order of responsiveness:

- XL2410T
- XL2370
- VH2420H
- U2311H

In order of price (ascending):

- V2420H
- XL2370
- U2311H
- XL2410T

In order of build quality and ergonomics:

- U2311H
- XL2410T
- XL2370
- V2420H

It's up to you how to weight these, but image quality should be of particular concern to you. All things considered there is a strong case for the XL2370 or U2311H, depending on your prefences and weighting.

I was reading some more about these monitors... but i have an ATI 5850 so i can't use that 3D stuff? So i cant run games @ 120hz either?

Sorry if this is a noob question haha ^^
you can game at 120hz with ati cards...
also 3d works with iZ3D Driver

if your gaming u need a more responsiveness monitor, so it'll less likely to have input lag.

Don't go thinking that you 'need' a 120Hz monitor if you enjoy gaming. I don't usually use this term but it's utter b*llocks. Responsiveness is attractive but so is a good image. Ideally you want a bit of both. Unfortunately LCD technology doesn't currently allow for a lot of both. I am currently reviewing the XL2410T as I'm sure you're aware. The responsiveness is excellent but the image quality is a bit tricky to swallow given the price. That's not to say it's bad. Just given what else you can get at the price or even for less now :).

The input lag on my 24" dell is perfectly fine for fast fps. That 23" looks to be near identical in terms of responsiveness. Imo the dell is just a superior package the the others listed.

I think he was just making a general point that a more responsive monitor is preferable. I have to agree quite strongly that there are of course other considerations. Extra responsiveness is lovely and all but a lot of people can game quite happily on far less responsive panels. I can happily kill just as well on the EW2420 as on the XL2410T on Bad Company 2, for example. I did find the trailing a bit difficult to contend with at first but it's easy to adapt to. What isn't easy to adapt to is the clear loss in image quality that you have to contend with coming from the EW2420, a high end CRT and RGB-backlit PVA panel to the XL2410T.

I am just using this as an example. If anybody has their heart set on the XL2410T I am sure you will be thrilled with it once you get it. We aren't all image quality connoisseurs.

So to make a long story short.

I love to play Counterstrike Source, BFBC2, Call of Duty MW & BO, UT3.
And from time to time i love to use photoshop and cinema4d or Sony vegas.

Like i said i have like 300 pound to spend, what would be the best pick for me.

3D : yes or no
120hz : yes or no
LED backlight : yes or no
Brand and model?

i game on my 46" 3d tv, i admit it's very slightly than my Iiyama ProLite B2712HDS 27" but the image quality is top quality
