I just got a new Hazro HZ27WB monitor yesterday, and after using it for a few hours it is causing me a lot of eye strain. Could anyone suggest why it might be causing this. One thing that has annoyed me is the sparkly effect the AG coating creates, but I'm not sure if this could be the cause.
Thanks for any help

Is the new monitor a different size from your old one?

perhaps you're needing to adjust your viewing distance slightly or maybe just turn the brightness down a little.

Since it's CCFL rather than LED the backlight is unlikely to be the issue.

What was your previous monitor?

A 27" TFT outputs a lot of light. The smaller pixels also mean more focus required in Windows, even with DPI scaling. Both could be contributing to eye strain.

It might well be because I was using a 19 inch 1440 x 900 monitor for a while since my brother has been using the 24" 1080p monitor we were sharing before. Going from that to 1440p is a massive upgrade. I am sitting around 75cm away, and have the brightness nearly on its lowest setting.

Use f.Lux and/or an ambient backlight for when it gets dark... if you're doing a lot of viewing in low-light.

Increase your ambient light! I had exactly the same problem. You need ambient light, something which is commonly overlooked! Especially when you're typing/coding on a bright white background.

I have 3 50W (around approx 400 lumens each I think) rated LED's using about 4-5W each arched over my head, and I'm on from 8am - 5pm (sometimes 8pm depending on work), with regular breaks of course. [LED's are great here, less heat generated as well as keeping to 15-20W power draw]
