Hey guys. I'm kinda stuck on deciding between 2 monitors and wondered if anyone has an opinion on which to go for. I was thinking of either Viewsonic VX922 or Samsung SM-940BF. I am using this mainly for gaming but I want one that performs well all round. Have had a few Samsung monitors and loved them all but I have heard good things about the Viewsonics. Any ideas on which to buy?

Take a look at this article which should help. The 940Bf is just a slight extension of the 930BF, supposedly offering a slightly more tweaked overdrive impulse. at the end of the day, the performance is pretty much identical to the 930BF in real use. Both are good gaming screens. However, the VX922 has a more well controlled overdrive application, and there is less white halo-ing (overdrive trailing) on moving images and less noise in movie playback. It is a bit more of an all round screen. Also take a look at the link to the X-Bit labs comparison at the bottom of that article which is very useful

I was also thinking about maybe going for a 17 inch tft instead of a 19 inch one. I sit kinda close to the mointor so maybe that might be a better option. What are the best displays in the 17 inch market. Just don't know what to go for.

Well, the Viewsonic is superb! I have one. The VX924 which i have only had for a few days but i have to sell it as i was given a Dell 24"" WS for my birthday! I must admit i prefer the Viewsonic!

the extra size of a 19" TFT is really nice for immersion in games though, i think it would be a shame to settle for a smaller screen given current prices in the 19" sector. If you did decide to go with 17" models, there are equivalents to the models mentioned like the Samsung 730BF and Viewsonic VX724. Both are very good for gaming needs :)
