I need a new monitor mainly for Internet & movies, gaming is not really an issue.

I currently have a ADI 19" CRT so would like something with at least the same screen size, am I right in thinking that a 17" TFT would give the same screen size as a 19" CRT?

Have been looking at these 17" models:

Viewsonic VA712 - £150
Samsung SM710N - £153

and these 19":

ACER AL1914S - £165
Acer AL1916WS -£178
Viewsonic VA912 -£188

The more I look at different models the more confused I am and cannot make a choice.

Anyone got any comments on any of these screens or are there any better models out there.

Thanks

Nige.

Decide if you wishh to go widescreen first or not. Acer monitors are good value monitors end of story. The more you pay, the better the build. Ive used Acer, LG & Samsung LCD`s with no problems. 19" standatd lcd mnoitors give in general the same resolution as the 17", 1280x1024, just the 19" ones enlarge the area, without a gain in resolution.

I have gone for a Dell E196FP 19" for £155

Looks like a very nice budget monitor for the price:
