I’ve just brought an MSI X570 Gaming Edge. It’s has 2 M2 slots one is PCIe x4 the other is PCIe x3. I have also just purchased an NVME drive. My Windows boot drive is a 120gb Kingston A400 M2 SATA drive. Which slots should I put the drives in? I currently have the NVME drive in the x4 slot and the SATA M2 in the x3 slot.

You've got it right then. I'm suprised an X570 board has gen 3 slots, but I checked the specs and you're right.

It'd be better to use the nvme drive as your boot drive.

I thought that and was going to partition the drive, it's a 2tb Sabrent Rocket but as my PC is gaming and the odd movie only I thought there wouldn't be much point? Or I could not partition the drive and just install everything on the NVME drive as 120gb boot drive is neither here nor there.

A partition for the OS is a good idea yeah. That way if you u do another clean install in the future you can keep your steam library etc.

The machine would be a bit snappier and responsive. Not a big deal though.
