The performance matters most. Am planning a build and just want it as fast and quiet as possible, beauty is in the eye of the beholder!

I have one on my I7 860 at 3.8ghz. Idle 35 degrees. Load (Prime 95) 70 degrees. Its extremely well made. The mounting plate is a quality fit. And its quiet too. Class IMO.

Hmm thanks for that, the 860's run a bit warmer than the 750's too don't they, might be worth looking into a bit more.

Cheers

One thing to note though is its massive. I could only fit it vertical on my MSI p55 gd80 motherboard. The mounting plate allows it to fit vertical and horizontal but in the horizontal it was fouling on the motherboard components. BEWARE it you have tall ram sticks because it will hit them. With my corsair dominator ram one of the fans is touching the first stick if ram. Its even pushing the ram by a very small amount in its socket. Also there is only about 1.5 cm between itself and the side of the case. I have a coolermaster scout with a side window and a place for two optional 12cm fans. Its impossible to fit a normal 120mmx120mmx20mm side fan. Heres a trick, I bought a couple of Scythe Slipstream 120mmx120mmx12mm fans. They fit, look good, cool well and are pretty much silent.

I heard about 5-10 degrees warmer. I have gone up to 4.2ghz with this cooler on my i7 860, but "in case" the cpu temps where up to 90 degrees in load. At 4.0ghz they where in the lates 70's. I settled for 3.8ghz because also it ran 50watts less than 4.0ghz.

IMO you will have no problems at all with this on an i5 at 4.0ghz.

Well i have no fans on the side of my case so that wont be an issue and i run ripjaw memory so it isn't much taller than "naked" memory, i guess it is a few mm shorter than dominator? Fouling on the mobo might be an issue though as ihave the GD65 :(

Silly question i guess, when you say mounted vertically i assume you mean fans blow bottom to top of the case (or top to bottom)?

Not a silly question. I mean the other way around. The fans are vertical both blowing out of the back of the case.
