Hey guys just having problems with the IR remote. I have a cheap xbox 360 one the little black one but it doesn't seem to be working straight away. Do I have any set up things I have to do ?
Got the NUC sleeping after tinkering this morning before work. Now need to work through the settings I changed one by one to figure out the culprit.
Appreciate if you guys have your sleep (after time) working - whether you also have:
Selected "high performance" or "balanced" power" in the BIOS (I changed to balanced to see if this was the problem)
Have hibernation enabled/disabled in Windows (turned this off with powercfg -h off)
Have HomeGroup sharing on/off (mine is switched off now after reading this might cause problems with sleep)
I haven't made any changes to the bios and mine enters sleep fine, so at least you know it is probably something you've done in the bios.
I stayed clear of the bios (at least for the time being), there were reports of the power button not working after making changes (could only turn on via remote or WOL) and I didn't want that, and now it seems it also breaks sleep. Some real issues going on with the bios at the moment I think >.<
Update : Remote Working.
To be fair it was just a cheap xbox remote, so I ordered a proper media center remote off the auction site. Brand new £5.
Worked straight away. Powers the NUC on from being off and can control windows 8 / media etc.
Happy Days
Got everything working, but it didn't like the USB wireless keyboard (logitech) and mouse (microsoft) plugged in the front. It worked fine with them near the nuc but not 2 meters away in the room.
Fixed that with a small usb extension lead for each one, probably a lot of EMF being generated near the NUC.
Spoke too soon, WOL stopped working. Grrr I'm sure this is all windows updates. Deleted the network entry from device manager, rebooted with MS network drivers and it works again!
The remote is : MCE RC6
There is loads with same name though. Here is a picture I found on google of the actual one I have.

There has been a further BIOS update from Intel, 022
New Fixes/Features:
Added Hard Disk Boot Delay feature in SATA pane in Visual BIOS.
Updated Visual BIOS version to 2.1.5.
Updated LAN PXE ROM version to 1.5.43.
Fixed issue where certain 3TB external hard drive is not
detected.
Fixed PCH +5v value on Cooling page.
Set Digital Microphone to disabled by default.
The addition of a SATA port will change the course of the NUC's history, and Akasa's new passive case is ready for it. The Tesla H will support not one but two SSD/HDD (mSATA to SATA adapter required for the second one).

Can anyone advise of the difference between the i3 model ending 'by' with the red case and thunderbolt and the one ending 'iye' with Ethernet?
The BY seem to be dropping in price to 130 which is the same as the celeron. But I want the IYE (there's no asaka passive case for the BY and I need Ethernet) - is there an IYE price drop imminent or is there some material difference between the two?!
R3X I just see that case on Fanless Tech and was about to post and you beat me to it.
Looks like Intel will be releasing their own one with extra drive bay at end of Dec according to Liliputing.com.

Recommended pricing Intel has released the new Atom Bay Trail-D based desktop specification with a rather attractive price point of sub-$249. The reference machine comes with a Celeron J1900 dual-core processor with two threads, 1MB cache, 2.41GHz base clock and it can Turbo to a rather modest...

bay trail systems are due to come soon. While only mitx design these cpus are using 10watts and 2.4ghz quad cpus. Wondering how a quad 2.4ghz Pentium will match over these nucs
