I think some people fail to grasp the concept here.
Launch day they don't need to bundle games the card is selling like hot cakes. Roll on a month or so and the initial sales spike will have dipped. Now is the time to bring in the value-adds while maintaining the price.
It'd be nice yes, they may even follow it up with a "we listened to your feedback and all owners can now have the games" so they come out like heroes after a shuttering start.

Of course we do, its just that for most things there is a reward for pre-ordering or getting the first of something. Not that that is a good thing, it makes us greedy
Just can be irritating if you've ordered it a bit before this offer comes out meaning you lose out on a free game. No biggie, just a little annoying

I received all my gear including a 980 on the 29th, how far will this offer be backdated? Gutted I missed out on Far Cry 4 by 5 days.

Nope. NVIDIA launched this promo today at 2pm and are not back dating it.
That's a shame, Wish I'd waited to get my 980 now
graphics cards never have purchase incentives on launch day.
my first launch day card, don't matter much, but would have been nice, I guess there be more keys for key vendors if they are giving them out now.

I don't think Nvidia themselves have ever done free games on release day, doubt AMD themselves have either. Only from the manufacturers.

If vendors decide to make their card more appealing they can but nvidia themselves don't put out promos with launch products.
If you want free games with your graphics card you should wait till their is a promotion there is always a promotion at some point.
