Yea same but mines more i dont have the time to dedicate like you seem to need to these days.
I wouldn't say that. An hour a week is more than enough. Sign up for emails from the teams and the Scout and make sure you're aware of the deadlines and any major injuries. If you want to go a bit more in depth there are all sorts of sites and people on Twitter, and IG you can use. The FantasyPL subreddit can be really good too.

It's a lot easier to play casually nowadays because you get official emails with key information like blank/double game weeks in advance, key player news, early deadlines due to friday matches etc. You don't really need to go hunting on specialist sites like you did a few years back.
10 years ago if you weren't paying attention you'd just randomly find out that half your team weren't playing.

It can be a slippery slope though, it's very easy to get drawn into meticulous research and planning. Looking up sites that try to predict player price changes based on transfer volumes etc. I enjoy it but it can be a bit of a time-sink, generally speaking the combination of better info for casuals plus generally more 'serious' players (and more players in general) and access to online resources means it is hard to compete at the top end if you aren't dedicating a fair bit of time to it. 2013/14 and 2014/15 I finished in about position 3000 two seasons running, but haven't got close to top 5k since.

When I first started playing official FPL I found it a bit overwhelming compared to the old newspaper versions where you basically picked a team and then had a couple of transfer windows, but it's actually a lot less dependent on luck because in those versions all it took was an injury to scupper your season.
