"Inexorable proof that old things are, in fact, brilliant."

"For nostalgic gamers and anyone who missed out on playing Sonic when he was still king of consoles, this is a must-have. It's a miniaturised Mega Drive that comes preloaded with 15 classic games, including Golden Axe, Sonic and Knuckles and, er, Fatal Labyrinth. Maybe skip that last one."
MSN Tech & Gadgets - May '09
"Retro gamers will be thrilled to reconnect with this twin-player console and its fashionably dated 1990s games."

Sad, Sega should have signed up a deal with Apple, Microsoft, Sony or Nintendo to allow their games to be played on one of their machines.

Its pointless to buy a console with old games which are suitable for portable gaming nowadays.

Surely for that price, it'd be easier just to bay a console and a shed load of games?

The thing is though, this is a new fully working system. Buying a used mega drive might not last long. Since mega drives are no longer in production, they probably don't have much life left in them before they break. Thats how I see it.

I think I've seen these in the high street unless it's a different version. It's a good idea but I think for £40 I would prefer an original megadrive and a few games. I surpose it wouldn't really matter what connections it has for the TV as the resolution is going to look huge anyway on a modern TV.

Didn't you realize Megadrives never break and last eternity? :D

I have overdosed on Megadrives from carboots due to people not being prepared to sell the games separate and they all work. I may start giving a few away to retro fans on OcUK. I also have way to many Master System 2s.

Sega Mega Drive Ultimate Collection is surely a better idea than forking out for a new console?

Some people prefer a more authentic feeling while playing classics.

I have an original megadrive but lost the cable for the tv. :\

Got a few games, will see what I have left when I get home today. I've got a master system aswell, I love playing lemmings on that thing. :p

From what I've read, these pieces of kit aren't that great. Shoddily made controller for starters, and apparently games are emulated on it meaning some titles don't work properly.

I went for the genuine article instead. Picked up a Mega Drive II in perfect condition on eBay, complete with box, manuals, all cables, two controllers etc and a few games for £30ish.

I also stumbled upon a backstreet gaming shop in Cambridge that has LOADS of Megadrive titles for 50p each. Can't go wrong at that price! :D
