New old stock Corsair PSU safe to use?

I’ve never once seen a PSU damage other components though even when it fails.

Seen it more than once myself - albeit that has mostly been with dodgy brands like Qtec, etc.

I really can't see it being an issue unless they get really unlucky in this instance though.
 
Just installed iCue software and it says PSU is currently 91% efficient, that's got to be a good sign.

It’s somewhat irrelevant in this case as it’s likely just a lookup table in a software. Using the PSU is probably not a massive deal in system used for gaming, running a few hours a day. For something running heavy workloads especially GPU heavy loads is where l’d be concerned and monitoring it pretty closely.
 
I would stop worrying to be honest. It’s a very high quality PSU made of very high quality components that’s never been used and is only 9 years old. I’ve got PSU’s working that are thirty years old and were made of much lower end cheaper components.

A 30 year old PSU is going to probably be based around a pretty robust transformer and I imagine you aren’t pulling 50 amps from it. It’s apples and oranges in this case.
 
I don't think its a lookup table, it has live real‑time telemetry about how much current and voltage is on each rail via a USB connection on the PSU.

According to Google if the features are properly supported by the model of PSU and you are using the USB interface it tracks your PSU's efficiency using real-time power tracking using sensors at both input and output stages.

If it is holding around the 90% mark under mixed usage, and you aren't getting unexpected power-offs under heavy loads like putting the GPU under strain, then it tends to suggest the PSU is still in excellent health.
