New PC for my Brother. Does this sound fine with people?

Hi all, my brother will soon be making a PC (at the moment, he has a laptop). We've been back and forth... and then back :p over the specification, but I think we've finally decided on the following.

Cool, I hope so. He's been using a laptop for the past few years but he really needs a PC so I can wh00p his ass at SupCom and the likes over the LAN. :p

Lol i paid 4k for my pc now it doesnt play all the new games at full res. It lasted me nearly a year now im thinkin of upgrading

Agreed.

Its very hard to say in a year, even a top spec will be able to play everything at full. When Crysis is out for example,. if a 8800GTX can play it in 1600x1200 )or higher) at full AA/AF+all details at max, I would be surprised!

I often think high midrange is the best, rather than getting the GTX, get the GTS, or something like an X1950XT 512MB, then in 6 - 12 months get the next high midrange card, and sell your other one. It costs you less because the hardware is more new, so can be sold for more. On top of that your PC is always more up to date.

Same could be said for the CPU, and everything else, but especially about the GPU. (IMO at the least).

Yeh that rite because games devolpers only use the newist hardware when making games and you own machine cant take it because it had older hardware. if my pc was worth 4k when i got it its not worth 1.5k now and for me to upgrade i have to change my whole comp.
