I am looking for a new card, Pc has built on graphics at min.

Got a 400W PSU (dont know the make)
2 x 512mb DDR2 ram
4600 x 2 AM2 CPU
1 X DVD burner

I want somthing that will be a good card and not cost the earth. I have seen this on OcUK

Sapphire X1600 XT 256MB GDDR3 AVIVO TV-Out/DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-114-SP)

I have been playing SOF2 & have been told that BF2 is good so was hoping to start playing that soon.

I am running a 19" TFT and want to know if this card will be a good card for this type of game.

What does this card compair to my old 6600GT AGP or am I wasting my money?

what bout the 2 below? what is the best?

Connect3D ATI Radeon X1800 XT 256MB GDDR3 AVIVO TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-044-CO)

or

OcUK GeForce 7900 GS 256MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-042-OK)

Both on special this week? and would my PSU run them?

The X1800XT is easily the faster card.
Its also about double the speed of the 7600GT.

The X1800XT 256MB along with the X1900XT 256MB, get my vote for the best value for money cards arround at the moment.

The X1800XT is unbeatable value for money in its price range and your PSU shouldn't have any problem with it as long as it's half decent (it would be a really good idea to look at the sticker on the side of it and tell us what brand it is and how many amps it has on the 12V bit of the table.)

What about the other stuff I am happy with the speed increase, what about other suff like shading and is it got all the stuff (graphics not my strong point).

Will also try get the name of the PSU for you.

The X1800XT has all the features you will probably want like Shader Model 3.0 etc. so don't worry about that. It'll also go great with the rest of your hardware, you won't be disappointed. :)

Thanks. :)

The name of the PSU is COLOFI* and it has a T or an E on the end of it?

EN6095 is printed on the CPU and the below is on the bar chart

+3.3 = 20a
+5 = 30a
+12 = 20a

Hope this helps?

I'm not sure how that PSU would hold up, to be honest. I've never heard of the brand and 20A sounds a little low, it's probably best to wait and see what the others say about that.

Sound as though the PSU is an generic one from a colours case.

I would not use that PSU with that card.

If you don't want to change PSU then go for the 7900 GS it uses a lot less power.

Ok thanks, thats correct its got 2 neon lights on the case at front with a neon temp gage.

Will i notice much difference in performance for above games?

or features such as Shader Model 3.0 etc and has the GS got TV out?

The GS is no slouch and will overclock to GT speeds without thinking.

It will not be much slower in cureent games than the x1800 then.

Not sure about TV out for the price who cares :p

That is a function I use in the house so would be helpfull. anyone know what the fan is like for noise?

Pc located in bed room and is left on all time?

Anyone know if it comes boxed or is it oem?

What about this for the ame price?

Leadtek GeForce 7600 GT Extreme 256MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-083-LT)

Looks to have faster clock speeds?

Well guys thanks for the info, I did spot the TV out after taking a second look at the add.

Just taken the plung for the 7900GS on offer at £99 + Vat.

Hoping this will see me through for a couple of years at lease with my current PC.
