Hi all,

I've got my CBT on Thursday and am completing a DAS course. Just bought my first lot of gear and wondered whether I'd made good choices or not?

Alpinestars SMX 3 Boots
Alpinestars Celer Gloves
Dainese Carve Master Gore-Tex Jacket
Dainese Galvestone D1 Gore-Tex Trousers

Thanks!

Bit late to ask after the fact :p but yes you won't go wrong with any of that kit.

Have you ever ridden before? I ask because that's a lot of money to drop on kit if you don't even know if you'll enjoy it!

Also prepare to sweat. A lot.

I have no doubt in my mind that I will enjoy it.

The bloke in the shop said that the Dainese stuff was good for in the heat.

Even full mesh gear will be warm at CBT and off road maneuvering speeds as there's no air being pushed through the vents, especially with the weather this week.

It's just something to keep in mind, make sure you keep on top of your water as your mind will be on other things.

Have you got a helmet yet?

No. I couldn't try on many lids today as I've got a sunburnt face haha. Will probably go Shoei.

Thanks for the tip on water.

Good choice on the gear, I only buy Dainese and Alpinestars from now on. Shoei is a really good brand too, miles ahead from some other brands. ;)

can't comment much on the gear but if you are doing it with First Gear, then just as a warning their yard where they do the off road CBT stuff is a sun trap and gets like a furnace even when it isn't that hot. When my brother in law did his he regretted wearing leather and wishes he's worn something a little lighter

Just a thing, if you can still get the SMX2, get them. They're much more comfortable than the SMX3. ;)

Helmets - make sure you try them on!

I had my heart set on an AGV of some description but when I got to the shop the only one that fit my head properly was the arai... Aparrantly my head is an expensive shape :(.

Most importantly, have you got a bike yet?
Not yet, but I sat on the one that I want today to see if I liked the position.

My stuff is textile and I've taken out the lining so hopefully I should be ok. Thanks for the tip though.

Too late :) I needed them for Thursday and it's what they had that felt comfortable.

:p Absolutely I will try them on. Just gotta wait for my forehead to be slightly less red :D

You've got the gloves I want!

I'm in a moment of trouble. My coat has a thermal liner and it's literally too hot when stationary but just right when moving. Breaks me out in a sweat in seconds

I'd be dead in seconds! I don't even have my thermal linings in in winter never mind in mid 20 degrees heat.

I should proably retire the thermal liner and just wear a jumper underneath now. At least I know the thermal capabilities are legit!

You're a bunch of girls who can't take the heat!

*is probably the girl for not being able to take the cold*

If you're still wearing your thermal liner in this heat do you resemble the michelin man when it's actually cold? :p
