I have a good comp, but dont use it for the power that it is.. so Im going to get a xbox 360 and a alrite comp. I have a dell 1905fp which I will use for the monitor for them both. Well, I need it to be silent, ok for games (low-medium graphics is fine), and cheap! I know loads of you are gonna go q-tecs crap, but its really not, as I had one for years without it breaking down:

I have a 80gb hard drive so thats fine.
Im gonna get a £40 or sumin gpu like a 6600gt from the members market.. Good spec? I want to play oblivion which I should be able to at lower quality, I will overclock my cpu and maybe the gpu..

yea, but the lanboys nicer looking lol and has a window..

also, if i use a sata 2 80gb hard drive.. or a sata 1 80gb hard drive, would i notice any performance gains or would anything at all be different
 
i wouldnt worry about looks at this end o the price bracket, but the difference in the two systems is negligible i suppose... and if your happy with a q-tek :eek:

but seriously with such a tight budget are you really that bothered about looks

I've read Q-Tecs hav no protection thats why they kill PCs.

Yes they DO work, hence why shops like OcUK stock them :mad: But the thing is how they work & how they react when things go wrong (which for them is a high probability because of poor build quality) :( ...
QTec's Triple Fan 650W is clearly a joke power supply. From the triplet of cooling fans that battle against each other to cool very little, to the supposed ratings that don't even add up to 650W, finishing with the massive failure for the PSU to get anywhere near its rated output. At 350W the outputs started to fluctuate rapidly before settling down.

By 450W, efficiency was dropping like a stone, input power increasing at a very rapid rate. At 50% efficiency and 900W of input power with the PSU making a horrible screeching sound, PD and I stood well back and recorded its demise on video. At 1100W of input power (1.1 kilowatts), it popped with a massive bang, the internal fuse letting go in impressive style.

For its rediculously low cost, the QTec Triple Fan 650W can only be described as a clown's supply. Buy at your own peril and don't say we didn't warn you. The worst supply on test by quite some margin and a complete misadvertisement of capabilities, suckering people into a poor purchase.

Recommended system: None whatsoever.

:D But in all seriousness, if you're spending that much money on new equipment, invest just a couple of tenners more to get a good, safe, reliable power supply. It is undoubtably worth it.

You will live to regret it later on. You don't even need 650W for that spec (not that the Q-tec can handle 650W anyway).

question: should i get the 3000+ or 3500+. as i will be overclocking, so which one would overclock higher and i might, if i can afford it get a am2 heatsink
 
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DON'T BUY A QTEC :(

Just imagine... Turning on your new PC with a cool Gold 650W PSU thinking "I have all the power in the world, now for some CSS :cool:".

if your oc`ing, i`m pretty sure both the 3000 venice and 3500 venice OC very well..and the 3700...lol, up 2 you!
 
I was about to suggest a cheap Dell PC. You can get a Pentium D system for £300 but its probably not the best choice for gaming. A good reliable PSU is a must and I would go for the better brands even though they cost a bit more.

He's going AM2, of which there's no 3700+ :)

& I'd say 3000+ AM2 if it’s anything like its Socket 939 predecessor ;)

This earlier spec looks good, maybe just change the chip to a 3000+ :cool:
