You missed my point - you specifically cited the Mondeo as an example - you said the US version sucked becuase it had to bhe convereted to left hand drive. But in Europe, there are millions of left hand Mondeos which are just as good as the right hand ones. It's not the conversion to left hand drive that makes them suck - it's the ropey suspension, etc etc..

Actually, what I meant was the opposite. When they converted the US Taurus and Tempo to the Mondeo..... ;)

1. Where do you get this 100,000 mile warranty thing from? None of the main US manufacturer currently offers 100,000 miles bumber to bumper. Normal is 36 months / 36000 miles - a few offer up to 50,000 miles or 4 years i.e. identical to the European norm. The only manufacturer to offer 100,000 miles that I can find is Suzuki.

porsche warranty all cars up to 10 years and 125k miles ;)

4.2 secs to 60, 185+ mph, average 33mpg, why are you even considering a american muscle car (even the name muscle car sounds ghey) when you could have chosen what has been considered by nearly all motoring journalists as the best sports car in the world ever (including jeremy C). . . . . who am I to argue?

just my 2p's worth

if the person who originally bought your 2.5 boxster paid for the extended warranty then yes, alternativly you can take it to the OPC pay them 725 of your finest british pounds and then they will warranty it for a futher 12 months themselves, NOT through a third party like RAC etc etc (meaning if there is a problem its fixed, end of story)

how you finding it btw?

hope this helps

Obviously there is the extended warranty - what I meant was that as standard there is only a 2yr warranty.

BTW Car is fine - just want to get some nicer weather and I'll finally be able to get the hood down :)

Heh, you asked....
http://www.chryslerwarranty.com/
http://www.chevrolet.com/warranty/ (only covers corrosion protection to 100,000 miles)
http://www.fordwarrantys.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=compare
http://www.kia.com/warranty.php (varied coverage)
http://www.suzukiauto.com/owners/warranty.php (only really covers drivetrain)

The warranty I had on my Neon (I purchased as extended from Toyota of America where I bought it) was 7 year 100,000 miles and covered everything except tyres, braked shoes and pads, belts and hoses, and filter. It even covered headlamps!! Which I was surprised at!!

It appears there are as many warranties in the US as there are types of cars to buy, but if you're willing to search for it (and at times pay for it) you CAN get unbeatable coverage over here.

Right, so rather than the impression you gave us that most American cars came with amazing warranties, as standard, what you really meant to say was that in America, you can pay for an extended warranty if you want?

Erm, guess what, you can here as well - infact the standard warranties over here appear to be better than Cheverolets corrision warranty as virtually every manufacturer offers 6-12 years unlimited mileage warranty against corrosion..

My point exactly.

These are maybe a little closer to the truth...

Chevrolet
Chrysler (scroll to bottom of page)
Ford

All 3 years / 36 months.

A few of the premium domestic brands (Buick / Mercury / etc) offer 4 years and up to 50,000 miles as standard.

Which is all-in-all very similar to Europe.
