New samsung at last 1080p on a 32"

Lol what a waste, when will people learn that 'ZOMG 1080p' doesn't mean jack in terms of picture quality.

As said, only useful as a pc monitor.

O and if your wife says something then ignore it and get what you think is best. Women have no idea about technology, and think that a little tv will 'fit in with the rest of stuff they chose for the room' i.e. everything. A 32 inch tv for a living room will look tiny, 37 is a very respectable size, and 42 is pretty standard.

Put the monies towards a panasonic PX80 37inch plasma, unless you are gonna be using it mainly as a pc monitor, then go for an lcd.

*Shrug*
1080p looks better than 720p on my LCD.
So it isn't a 32" - however saying that 1080p means "Jack" in terms of picture quality...if it made no difference then we'd all be spending less money and buying 720p sets rather than 1080p.

The advantage of 1080P over 720P is the clearer sharper image (thats only if you have a native 1080p signal going in) but If I were using it with a PC as a monitor for games and/or normal PC usage then I would want 1080p.

Also depends on the size, I agree at 32" it maybe somewhat pointless at that size to have 1080p if all you're going to use it for is TV. But if you wanted to use it a PC screen or play blu ray discs (@ 1080p) then a FullHD tv is what I'd go for.

Everyone sees things differently, so its up to you at the end of the day and what you want to use the TV for primarily.

Can you explain what you mean? :o

You wouldn't be able to differentiate between 720p and 1080p on a 32" screen at normal viewing distances for television.

Besides 1080p is only part of what goes into making a good picture, there are plenty of other attributes that people overlook because much of the marketing concentrates on whether the TV is 1080p or not.

Difference is only noticeable if you sit about 2 inches from the screen.

:D For the truth (Well nearly, but I know what you mean)

Unless your under a few feet away then 1080p is useless, and think how often you will be watching a 1080p source. Then SD will look even worse on a 1080p set, plus like I say in every thread like this:

MORE PIXELS DO NOT = BETTER PQ

it's of use if people are using them as monitors. somebody might want a monitor/tv hybrid on their desks. these would be perfect.

Indeed but people should remember if your aiming for HD quality benifits and use 1080p output from say a PS3 BDs you have zero scaling.
Not only that but quite often as 1080p displays are usually more expensive you tend to get some extra hardware specs, like higher contrast ratios improved scaler chips and this model has almost double the series 4 models, thats your biggest difference their. People here just cant say oh 1080p is wasted on a 32" it all depends to what your comparing it too and what the end users main requiremnts are.

I can understand comments on that you cant really see the extra defination on that size of screen but you may notice a nicer picture with no scaling, yes indeed its not all to do with the pixels but a combination of many factors regards picture quality. Of course if your viewing is going to be very mixed with SD this may be taking possibly a reduction in quality but you have to decide do i want my HD to be as good as possible.

I say buy it if its 24fps compatible, if your after a 1920x1080 scale desktop you can still do this on most 720p sets of course simulated at 720p or 1366x738 resolution

The OcUK price looks good too.
If anything an option for 24" TFT bedroom PC/TV buyers to consider
