does anybody know if this will have ASIO or ASIO 2.0?

I have an Audigy with ASIO and was wondering if ASIO 2.0 helps speed up the latency when using a usb keyboard to control music software?

Windows vista and 7 use software layers for sound, so the cpu can do anything a soundcard would, here is a good read:

Nothing new does. EAX has been dead for a while.

I've never had a driver problem with my x-fi card, xp or win 7.

No, all the eax style features are just implemented on cpu or sound card if you have it, sound quility is more about oamps ect

All the hardware/eax sound features are still accessable. The game has to support OpenAL though and these are few atm. For Eax in current games, the Alchemy wrapper needs to be installed, and the game setup within in. Restoring eax in games vs the basic vista audio makes abig difference in supported games.

Yep - EAX isn't dead. It lives on via EFX in OpenAL and FMOD. You just don't notice it's there most of the time, as most games autodetect it and make use of it. It's rare for there to be an option to turn it on or off these days.

The rest of X-Fi's exclusive gaming features still work anyway (as long as you're not using more than 4.0 ).

Alchemy is only needed for old DirectSound3d games.

Fix the ones that are gimped, just because you have no trouble doesn't mean no one else also gets no trouble. Have you seen how many 'Creative card not working with Vista/Win7' topics there are? Plenty of people with X-Fi problems, let alone all the people with older cards that Creative released gimped drivers for, forcing people to seek out Daniel K support packs.

It's handy when most OEM movie playback software is 2 channel. The vast majority of copies of PowerDVD etc that come with DVD / BR drives don't include surround sound.
