Obviously christmas is soon to arrive and i will get my usual book tokens, which of the new releases in the past year would you reccomend. Is the Banks any good, has Hamilton returned to page turning glory or are their new kids on the block i should know about?

I've read a few of Ian M Banks' books and found them to be very good though they can be a bit confusing at times.
You could have course always go for some classics like Arthur C. Clarke or Phillip K Dick.
