New speakers, It will be used for gaming and music, but I do not want 5.1 or 7.1 as I have no where to put the speakers.

not sure if 2.0 or 2.1 would be better as i like nice low bass etc..

and I'm using onboard sound if that helps.

TIA
Yanto.

I recently changed from a 5.1 to a 2.0 setup. I went for the Creative Labs Gigaworks t40's. They are great for games and music.

I'd get the aego energy or logitech z4's if i needed a headphone socket as the aego's don't have one.
Personally i got the z4 for a good price couldn't be happier no midrange but what pc speakers do have midrange.
Love the fact that headphones you can still use when you turn the logitech off.

£80 will get you a second hand amp and speakers. about 30 for an amp and 50 for speakers.

It will sound much better than pc speakers

Yep, any old amp will do as long as it has auxillery/phono. All you do is connect aux on the amp to your soundcard output (with a 2 phono to 3.5mm jack)

my amp

Of course theres loads of other amps and speakers out there that are better but for 80 or so quid you cant really go wrong with a setup like that

Yeah, as said eBay is your best bet. Rotel are generally quite good too, so if it has the relevant connectors it'll be fine.

This is the exact cable I use, very good for the money: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PHILIPS-3-5mm...goryZ295QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Speakers wise something like Tannoy M1, Tannoy F1 Customs, KEF Cresta 10, Wharfedale Diamond 9.1 etc. would all be great.

trouble is my desk isnt really big enough for hifi type speakers, and my Rotel amp is like 25 years old. It wouldn't surprise me if its a tube amp.

Probably without the original packaging or some bits but the unit itself should still be in brand new condition. Have bought countless items in clearance and b-grade and there was nothing wrong with them what so ever.

According to the dimensions found on other website: Sub Woofer - 265 x 190 x 350mm Satellites - 68mm x 103mm x 90mm

that size should be ok,

so what wont it include? will it include all audio cables?

and do you know if those speakers have 64-bit drivers? do speakers even need drivers these days?

No you don't need driver for that.

It should still include all the cables just without original package. I wouldn't worry about it too much mate.

ok :) i'll order those speakers then, hopefully they'll stil be in stock by the time i get the money on friday.

I didnt think speakers needed drivers lol, but i just thought i'd better check.

I'm about to order now, but i just want to know how these compare to cheaper 2.1 systems? or the T40? what kind of things actually vary between different speakers? becasue I'm only in a bedroom so volum eis not too important, its all about sound quality.

TIA, Yanto.
