New to motors (audio question)

Hi guys (first time into the motors section, a cardinal sin i know!)

I have recently got my first car on the road (at 22 late starter, although been driving work vehicles for a year or so) (Mk2 Driver 1.6) Its in great nic but the only thing im really missing is a decent CD player. I don't want to spend to much money on one but there are a few things that i would ideally like. I would be after MP3 player connectivity or even better a card or usb reader would be great.

I don't plan on spending to much money but would like to get the best i can for around the £50-£80 mark. Doesn't have to be brand specific but if i can nab a decent brand for that price bracket then i wouldn't mind.

Any suggestions at all

At that budget I'd much rather get something half decent second hand than something cheap and new. Have a look on the bay at Pioneer and Alpine units.

What sort of car is it? You'll also need fitting adaptors etc

Its a Mk2 Golf driver 1.6 (can bang a pic up if people want to see it?)

I have a JVC cd player unit in there at the moment but it does not read discs and is very temperamental.

Ah thats easy then, should just be a straight swap.

Kenwood arent great but much better than JVC and thats a pretty good deal

i was a bit miffed as well because i always thought that JVC where a well known reputable company.

Indeed, I got my headunit from the 'bay with USB, Aux in and 4x 45w so fairly bog standard.

£45 posted (New) and it doesn't half crank up well, been in 2 cars now

They are, as are Sony, but they both make shoddy car audio.

You wouldnt buy a dyson telly would you?
