As above i am a new owner of a nas (synology 218+) Head is full on absorbing youtube vids and info.
So i have everything working on my home network, but i think i have got a bottle neck produced by my router which is the sky hub sr102 which i believe is only 10/100. So i have extracted my user info from the router and am now considering what router to buy that is gigabit/sky compatible as sky uses something called mer. A guy locally is selling a tp link ac1600 for £20 is this worth investing in as it seems to cater for my issues?
Also should i assign a static ip to the nas?

thanks in advance

any other router suggestion would be appreciated not to expensive and online game friendly

You could always just buy a cheap 5 or 8 port gigabit switch, the 10/100 from the router to the switch will be fast enough for WAN, all the internal network can then sit on the gigabit switch.

If you are using wifi (ouch) then a router with better wifi than your sky one would be a good idea, but wifi is fickle so in the real world YMMV
