Hi all im very very new to all of this, but as a hobby im looking at starting up a little bit of photography and video editing.
Are there any sort of basic guides to follow for both video editing and photo. editing.
I have both MacBook Pro and a Windows laptop. Would probably be using the MacBook more so and therefore using iMovie and Photos app for photos. Don't really want to shell out money on software just yet incase I can't get to grips with it all.
Also if there are better programmes for windows for free then please feel free to let me know.

Thanks.

Avid media composer first and Davinci resolve are industry standard video editors that you can get free. (not as 30 day trials) There are some limitations in them for obvious reasons, but for learning and modest editing work, they are great. Davinci is a little less restricted but less common in the broadcast world.

Gimp is probably the most versatile photo editor you can get for free.
