Hi there,

Received a Linksys WRT54GL today and installed Tomato 1.27 firmware on it. Everything is great but am at a real mindblock with QoS. I have spent the last 3 hours fiddling about and researching on the net about how it should be setup but still not really getting anywhere.

All I want is for gaming via PS3 to be prioritised over other people's traffic, but I still want to be able to download at full speed when needs be when not gaming.

Can someone put me out of my misery and tell me what settings I should be using?

Thanks in advance.

Make sure Ack is unchecked, leave the rest on. Make a rule for udp from the console and leave tcp to be caught by your general dl rule.

Personally i use mac limiting in conjunction with qos. Qos ensures game/voip/video traffic goes out first, mac limiter ensures every devices gets it's share of inbound bandwidth (so no one device chokes the line). Although gathering and entering the macs is a pain. RAF mod if it interests you, although I'd clear the nvram thoroughly 3 times before using it, that ram is stubborn.

Thanks for your post. I think I have worked it out now by adding my PS3's MAC address to classification making it the highest priority. That's just in normal Tomato mind.

Yes outbound shouldn't give you a problem so long as you avoid prioritising acks or setting bandwidths to zero (it actually means 0-100). So long as you don't lag when someone else downloads something you'll be fine.
