Been playing around with a lovely intel Extreme CPU today.

Had to mash out the specs for the sake of NDA but it certainly looks rather special

Cannot say what it is however you cant argue that it clocks.

I can if it's only stable as long as you don't open Word or if it requires liquid nitrogen to get that high.

Ran through a couple of loops of vantage on a set of 480s so itll hang stable around that clock minus a few mhz perhaps and cooling dependant.

Nice CPU for the low (ish) voltage... Doesn't matter what combination of multi and base clock you use it caps out at about 5.45ghz with volts sat at 1.5v vcore. Restricted to 1.5v due to cooling. With a little TLC and a stronger board (p6T deluxe v2 not exactly suited to this) with better power delivery this should turn out to be an all in all good chip.

Id love to get some more extreme cooling on there with a board that has 2x 8pin EPS to ensure power delivery is nice and stable. Test board has been around in some form or other since the release of the original i7s in winter 2008. There are better units available now so I shall see if I can get a better result using something a little more substantial.

Which motherboard was this on?

P6T Deluxe V2. Hence the need for a better board. Something like an MSI bigbang xpower, rampage 3 extreme, ud9 or classified 3 would be ideal.. I shall see what I can do if I can play some more

It ran through Vantage at that clock which was nice to see especially considering vantage is a little tough on the cpu compared to what CPUz can strain.

I did indeed along with the 2 gpu tests just to make sure it didn't fall over. In the end it was happier with a slightly higher base clock than multi which means more bandwidth so looking at it that way I think its actually quite reasonable. Not sure what sort of cooling would be required for an optimum 5ghz 24/7 rig mind.

All I can say is that it is an ES and it is an new ES that has currently not been seen. That rules out current chips without giving away what it is. No matter how much you lot ask, Im not saying

1.4v for 24/7 running volts as a max. 1.375 would be my personal max but thats good for 4.8-5ghz from what I have seen.

I'd be looking for a nice water loop with a dual rad and it'll be good to go
