Is this actually any different to a 970 or 980? Like new silicon, tweaked/revised or whatever? Or is it just the same with a different default clock speed and different label?

Like us, i am sure that Overclockers are Intel Premier Partners and as such we have to sign NDA for products that have not been officially released yet. If we were to go spouting off about these products and specs then our status and ability to get ES components will be reduced or removed.. Thats why its hush hush...

Must be an oced 980x
All I can say is that it is an ES and it is an new ES that has currently not been seen. That rules out current chips without giving away what it is. No matter how much you lot ask, Im not saying

Not a secret anyway, I already knew that i7 990X coming out after 980X. But, will NOT buying it anyway. I stick to my i7 920.

No doubt it will cost a pretty penny but looking at the speed, multi and vcore of Andy's post you can't deny its impressive

Been reading around on sandy bridge and it seems Intel are taking an approach to locking CPU's. Meaning no one can overclock by raising the BLCK but they are releasing premium K versions which have an unlocked multiplier but at a premium cost which isn't very mainstream friendly which is what the platform was mean't to be aimed at ::rolls eyes:: seeing a lot of people switching to AMD at some point in time.

The cost of the CPU, to MANUFACTURE it, is around $40.
