***** New toy from Intel... Results rather promising :) *****

Nice one - thanks kitfit - seen a few things on here about phase cooling but never asked what it was lol

...OP - I'll stop stealing your theread now!

Send me that CPU when you're done? :) (and the mobo/ram/gpu etc...) promise I'll look after it :D

I'm with Geckovich here. 1.5V vcore on a 32nm chip isn't a long term plan.

Still, if a new & more exciting six core chip comes out, it can only lower the price of the current ones. Which is good news.

Don't know what the hush hush is for, it's kinda common knowledge what it is ^^

Like us, i am sure that Overclockers are Intel Premier Partners and as such we have to sign NDA for products that have not been officially released yet. If we were to go spouting off about these products and specs then our status and ability to get ES components will be reduced or removed.. Thats why its hush hush... ;)

Hi All.
If you do a search on Intel 990X, there is a Austrian shop with all the details of it inc its part no, dont want to put the link in as it may get me a telling off.
All I can say its the last one on the page and it starts with H

was hoping the toy was a SB :(

I wonder if were gonna see some silly OcUK SB @ 4.5ghz bundles :)

Id love to wait till the higher end Intel/AMD platforms and X58 replacements arrive but I cant be bothered to wait till fall 2011!

Been reading around on sandy bridge and it seems Intel are taking an approach to locking CPU's. Meaning no one can overclock by raising the BLCK but they are releasing premium K versions which have an unlocked multiplier but at a premium cost which isn't very mainstream friendly which is what the platform was mean't to be aimed at ::rolls eyes:: seeing a lot of people switching to AMD at some point in time.

Core i7 990X Extreme Edition
£750 CPU that costs 50£ to produce.

Rejoice! A CPU for every man!

Cant wait for bulldozer to kick some sense into Intel and its ridiculous prices.

How close do you reckon you'd get to fabricating a processor for £50?

Bloody stupid comment. Even if the £50 wasn't plucked from thin air, you cant set R&D costs equal to zero.
