Hello there!

I've just been in contact with Vodafone who inform me that come September 1st. I asked them about an unlimited text / calls package and this was the reply :

"I can tell you that as of the 1st September we are introducing great new priceplans that I know you will like as they are just what you are looking for. Please keep an eye out in store or the TV ads that will be coming soon to see these and if you are interested just give us a call and we will be happy to change your priceplan for you."

So, any ideas as to their plans and new tarrifs please?

compared to the standard tariffs you will get more minutes for your money, and even texts included in the price. Depending on whether you go for 12 or 18month contracts and how high up the price plan ladder you go you will get a number of extras (ranging from 1 to 4 i think) and these can be traded in for things like 50% extra minutes, stop the clock, more texts, 6 months half price line rental etc etc etc. Its also a better deal on 12 months.

Ah, by glancing around carefully, I've found the details and they're pretty rubbish really.....

New Plans September 1st* subject to change.

Anytime 75 -> mins stay the same with 100 texts as standard £20

Anytime 125 -> 150 inclusinve mins, 100 texts as standard £25

Anytime 200 -> Mins remain the same, 100 texts as standard £30

Anytime 275 -> 500 inclusinve mins, 100 texts as standard £35

Anytime 350 -> 500 inclusinve mins, 250 texts as standard £40

Anytime 500 -> 800 inclusinve minutes, 250 texts as standard £50

Anytime 700 -> will be withdrawn

Anytime 1000 -> 1200 inclusive minutes, 250 texts as standard £75

----
If you move on to the above priceplans as a new connection or upgrade you can choose 1 free Extra on a 12 month contract, 1 free extra on an 18 month contract priceplan below £40, and 3 free extras on an 18 month contract priceplan £40 and over.
----

Extras:

('Time based' extras)
3 months half price line rental (only available until ed of october) (takes 2 extras)

6 months free Mobile TV Pack (takes two extras)

('For Life' Extras)
STC
50% extra minutes
Extra messages (going from 100 sms to 250 sms, or from 250 sms to 500 sms etc.)

The 'For Life' extras can be purchased for £5.
------
Other info:

So STC will be come a chargeable extra (unless taken with your free extra if applicable), which is crap, but it also means that STC will be available on 12 month contracts which is good.

Vodafone Passport will come as standard on the priceplans, but only until October (I think, you'll have to forgive me I forgot to note the date down) afterwhich it will be one of the extras.

Existing customers who are not eligable for upgrade may migrate on to the new priceplans, but will have to extend their existing commitment by 6 months, and no free extras (unless you already have STC, in which case you get to keep it when migrating on to one of the new plans)

The SMS will be for SMS only, not data or MMS.

Edit: also forgot to mention call charges outside of mins will be increasing (18p for landline/voda to voda, 45p crossnet) and there will be no carry over mins feature. Also changes made to priceplan will take effect from the 1st day of the following months (which will get rid of the current pro-rata confusion)

Until October Vodafone Passport is automatically added, it is still free afterwards, but we can add it on to your price plan for free without changing your actual tariff. (So basically becomes a free add on) (Basically less hassle for staff to add it on)

Just a few tweaks ;)

(I think i'm right on the first one)

Even though STC will become chargeable or as one of your extras, you do have to take into account that you are getting more inclusive minutes for your money on the new tariffs compared to now.

Aye I see what you mean Kappa.

It still doesn't really compare to the unlimited deals offered by Orange at the moment, does it? :(

I'm currently on the 200 anytime tariff with 500 texts. By the look of it, I'm going to be worse off under the new scheme?

I'm aware of the MMS exclusion, but no-one has said anything about data yet... unless they're bringing out data add-ons? :confused:

Ouch! :-/
and there will be no carry over mins feature.
Double ouch! Almost makes me wonder whether I should take out a contract before 1st September... even though 500mins and 100texts for £35pm is not too shabby.

I'm a bit dismayed with the poor number of texts included with each of the tariffs. Gutted to be honest.

I'm a massive texter and Vodafone have taken absolutely no account of people like me at all, whilst the other networks Orange and o2 for example, have plans specifically tailored to people who text in large amounts.

I'm really disappointed as I have had, up until this point, nothing but good things to say about Vodafone, some minor signal issues at home aside.

Surely you can see by the bits I have edited that the information that was posted wasn't 100% accurate. Im not 100% on the new tariffs yet so there might have been more to be edited.

The 200min 500txt deal, dont forget that was a Promotional deal, outside of Vodafones standard tariffs. I see no reason why they wouldnt have better promotional deals as well as the standard ones they will offer coming september.

I'll wait until 1st September to see mate, going on what you're saying :)

But if they can't improve on the above then I'll gladly flog my n80 to pay for an early contract release and switch to a provider that takes account of my texting habits!

Grrr - Vodafone used to do the best value tariff for me. I got the Anytime 125 for £18pm. That was 125mins + 250 texts. Now it's only 100 texts?

They have removed MMS + long texts from allowances as well as now charging for STC, and also stopping minutes from being carried over.

It seems that they have got rid of everything that made me go with them in the first place.

I think you should take a step back and look at the new tariffs when they come out. The way i read your post it seems you think that you HAVE to pay for STC, which you dont. Please realise that you are getting MORE minutes for your money, and REMEMBER the EXTRA's which can equate to more texts or minutes or STC. Dont just look at how many minutes and texts you get as standard.

Your on a promotional price plan so it wouldn't change unless you requested it to, also vodafone are giving you a 100 text as standard to the price plan that doesn't mean you cant have more text you could then have an extras pack of 250 text which will then give you 350text, i wouldn't jump the gun on these price plans they are really good it's just the full details haven't been released yet.

I've ordered a new N80 on Orange's Dolphin 35, 550mins and unlimited texts plan which will arrive on Tuesday.

If I get better reception here at home than I do on Vodafone then I'll cancel my contract with Voda early and stick with Orange as I feel that's a much, much, much better deal, more well suited to my needs.

The tarrifs when official better be better than whats being rumored.

Im looking for 300+ txts, preferably 500, and about 150mins for about £25, then +£6-£8 for insurance.
