Hudson Hotel http://www.hudsonhotel.com is good with an awesome bar and "boutique" feel as is Westin Times Sq if you want to be central but with a slightly more conservative hotel.

I stayed in the W Times sq last year and thought it had aged badly and was just the wrong side of tacky these days, especially for the money.
