New York probes 'gas-like odour'

Can they not just test the air for chemical elements and confirm what the gas is?

In time, yes. Better to let a bit of fear and panic spread first. All the better for introducing new laws to protect us ;)

On the contrary the media hasn't done anything wrong—the articles I've read don't exhibit strong reactions, if people want to panic about it, then that's their own stupidity.

Stupidity? Or conditioning?

Stupidity. I'm sure plenty of people are aware of the situation, but they're not running around screaming "Bin Laden!!1!!". The few that are just jump to conclusions and make the connection that a strange event in New York has to be terrorists! :)

What fear and panic? The only person suggesting terrorism is you.

As for "conditioning" do you believe that if you claim that the media has over reacted to this event enough times that people will believe it. The fact is that there has been no hysteria, no suggestion of terrorism, no panic.
Indeed you are the only person to even imagine that there has been.
Sounds as though you are trying desperately hard to justify your earlier inane comments pretending that it is your crusade against media scaremongering - of which in this case at least there is absolutely none whatsoever. Which of course makes you guilty of the precise actions that you claim to be against. Yet more blatent and stupid hypocrisy

I see visage making an assumption that people are jumping to conclusions and assuming terrorism. Yet I don't see anyone actually doing it? Indeed the only person jumping to any conclusions whatsoever appears to be visage himself. Oh the irony lol.

I really don't know where you get off ridiculing this (non-)reaction when you wrongly did so with the London bombings. And yes, we're all aware of this climate of fear crap.

3 people in one thread telling you that you're talking out of your anus and rather than either show us the alleged over reaction by the media or admitting that it is infact *YOU* that are over reacting to the articles and assuming a certain media reaction exists when it doesn't you simply carry on blindly pretending it exists.

No need to panic, it cant be linked to terrorism. George W. Bush probably went to New York, opened his mouth to give a speech and spouted a load of ****.

*grabs coat and walks off giggling* :D
