@Plec where's the Ti ;)

Shame Vega 56 isn't in stock, yes a bit more expensive then a 1070 but killer saving on the freesync monitors and flash the card to a Vega 64 ;)

Does Inno|3D have 3 years warranty and UK RMA?

Hehe - i thought you would be chuffed with the GTX 1080 paired with a lowly 1440p :)

Agreed, i really want to spec one - although i need to read more about the scaling between Ryzden and Vega - looks promising and as you say great savings with Freesync.

Baby, steps - we'll get to Gigabyte looking at his budget ;) (although i think he's not UK based so may not be applicable in this instance)

Should I overclock?
Yes and no.

Yes, because every Ryzen is unlocked so you can get free MHz with the right motherboard and a couple of BIOS tweaks. And this can all be done on the stock Wraith cooler up to 3.7GHz or potentially more (not guaranteed) with an larger aftermarket cooler.

No, because at present the stock speed is fast enough for all games at the moment and will be for some time.

But in the same breath why not clock for the sake of a couple BIOS tweaks.

I would run at stock for a few months as it's your first build and then start to play with clocking when you're used to the system/interface.

I am based in the UK. What's the Ti and Vega 56?
The Ti is in reference to the GTX 1080Ti and was a joke between orbital and I. You honestly don't need one at 1440p - if you were to make the jump to a vanilla GTX 1080 from the GTX 1070 you'll have FPS in your back pocket for a long while...

And the UK reference is that Gigabyte products have superior customer service and UK RMA - i.e.if you went the GTX 1070 route it may be worth choosing the gigabyte for warranty purposes (the 1080 version would cost you £100 more).

Vega 56 is a new card recently released by AMD and unfortunately due to initial high demand and miners they're as rare as hens teeth and overpriced at present. Plus if you get the GTX 1080 it's a none issue. But compared to the GTX 1070 the Vega 56 is a worthy buy.

Having said that I've just looked and OcUK have stock of the PowerColor at £389..

My basket at Overclockers UK:

I would look at reviews of the Vega 56 and gaming performance when directly compared to the GTX 1070...

Not the best site to use - better to read dedicated reviews with lots of gaming benchmarks.

You also need to be comparing it to the GTX 1070 as that is the card in the similar price bracket/performance to the Vega 56.

I might stick with the £1250 build. The 1070 is another £100 isn't it? It worth it?
Subjective and relative.

But - this is your first PC and the GTX 1060, at the present time, will run all released games at high/ULTRA at 1080p - which is what your after. Plus, you started off with a £1000 budget and things are already starting to spiral a bit. :)

I know! I need to stop looking online and at magazines!
Part if the fun - but also makes you feel you need something bigger, better and faster :)

If £1250 feels like your sensible maximum - stick to it. Don't stretch yourself financially for 'essentially' the same gaming experience.

For example i have GTX 1070 with a 1440p IPS 27" screen (non gaming) - my son has a GTX 1060 coupled with a 24" 1080p. I enjoy both machines/screens for gaming and most visitors wouldn't be able to tell the difference in screens if they were both of the same size - as gameplay/FPS would essentially be the same. Once the game is running it will look stunning even on 1080p when set to high/ultra...

having used the Turbo card. its a blower. will be loud. if you know what your doing, thermal Grizzlie will knock off at least 5c load temps!
its the same PCB as the G1 and windforce cards - get a waterblock, Kraken G10 with AIO or is alphacool have their Eiswolf AIO for the G1 card yet

guessing you've got all the parts from different places, can sometimes be a massive saving, but also a pain for RMA

Ok, knowing now that looks are 'nearly' on a par with overall power - what is your budget now?

Plus you want a better monitor paired with GTX 1080. I would tone down the spec for a better monitor (standard SSD and 1600X - with perhaps a blingy AIO and cheaper but still great case). If you're not streaming it can be easily done.

Ok, what is thermal Grizzlie?
And the rest I didn’t really understand!
(Sorry but I’m new to this)

in that case, dont worry to much . but its thermal paste applied between the chip and the cooler. The Gigabyte turbo is a blower card so uses a centrifugal fan which is louder then some of the twin and triple axel fan designs you may have seen
