Wow, that's impressive. Where were you to catch that? Im guessing by the road with them approaching runway 07?

Its the end of 05L,my first visit to this location and will be going again,superb spot.

John, the regular path for them is going the other way. I prefer the going the way in the photo above though as they get much closer to you!

Fair point about them getting closer... I was working on the theory that they'd look better flying towards the camera.

My old man used to plane spot right there (over the fence at Newcastle) back in the 70's!

Was there a few months back and managed to see an AWAC touching down a few times, though was without my camera and so it was a missed opportunity to get some shots of something I haven't seen many of.

Alex, I have seen the AWAC doing circuits around Newcastle but never got to the Airport in time
