well it goes without saying you swap the pins back round if you actually take it in for a service etc.. :p

I'm considering quickly making a website and offering it as a service and making up a load of OBD adapters to work with my fiendish idea - to negate the above :)

anyone with a modicum of enthusiasm out there want to get rich with me (i.e. do all the hard work and I'll go 90/10 with you :p)

If it becomes a mainstream thing to do then thieves will just carry an adapter or make their own. Pin outs report wrong/data is un-usable. Chuck in the adapter.

Need a harness where the end user swaps both ends pinouts as part of the setup procedure to randomise it.

At a guess this may be possible, as in they left this ability in, so that if you lost both your keys in a housefire or whatever then it's still possible to re-program the car to a new key. It could just as easily be stupidity on their part but considering the fairly decent crypto they use for lock/unlock I'd hope this wasn't the case.

I think the best action would be to remove the ODB port altogether tbh.

Then fit a wiring harness in the dash to enable it to come out with one connector.

Then change the colours of the wires in the dash so any thief wouldn't have a clue how to wire it back up.

Then just plug in the port when you need it.

Just need some kind of adaptor made up, and cover it in something like dinoc? Any thief removing the cover will find a bunch of black wires plugged into a female pin adaptor of some sort that they've never seen and wonder WTF they were looking at
